Extended Metaphors - April 9

If I were an appliance or machinery, I would be a mixer because I don’t like things to always be the same. I am the type of person who likes to always change things around whether I am moving furniture around at the house or rearranging my classroom, being the same all the time is boring. I also like to make sure when I am with a group of people that everyone is mingling and getting along, I was always the fixer in my group of friends. Kind of way off from my previous examples I would also be a mixer because I love to cook and make new recipes when I cook or bake. I would also be a mixer because they are versatile, they can mix things up no matter the substance and I can mix things up on a whim, whether it is my lesson plans, my weekend, or even my evening, I like to go with the flow.

If I were a geometric shape, I would be a triangle because they are versatile. Triangles to me are the most versatile shape because you can have right triangles, isosceles triangles, equilateral triangles, or even scalene triangles, there are so many options and each one is perfect because the angles always equal 180 degrees so it is predictable. I like to think that I am predictable like a triangle but I am also very versatile because I can be many things at one time. For example, I am a very versatile teacher because I am certified in elementary 1-6, math 6-12, English 9-12, science 6-9, and counseling 7-12. This makes me marketable but it also helps me to contribute a lot of different ideas and viewpoints to my classes and fellow teachers. I can be very flexible in my teaching and work all subjects into my teaching curriculum. I am also very versatile at home because I don’t mind not having a plan or something to do every night that way I can choose what I do last minute and change plans if I find something I would like to do last minute.

If I were a season of the year, I would be summer because it is a carefree time of year. Summer is also my favorite time of year because to me the definition of summer is break time and sunshine! As a teacher I enjoy my summer vacations because it is a time for me to catch up on all the things I missed during the school year like my tanning, reading, and pinterest crafting! Summer also suits me because if I had a choice I would live where the sun shines everyday and the temperature stays above 80 degrees year round, I hate to be cold so summer warms my soul. Summer also allows me time to breathe and take a mental break from everything around me. It is the one time of year that I have time to run consistently 3-4 times a week and complete long runs, running is my escape, my stress reliever, and my “me” time so I really value it during the summer.
